- [सामाजिक क्रांति के अगदूत पद्म विभूषण डॉ बिन्देश्वर पाठक](https://www.sulabhinternational.org/%e0%a4%b8%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%ae%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%9c%e0%a4%bf%e0%a4%95-%e0%a4%95%e0%a5%8d%e0%a4%b0%e0%a4%be%e0%a4%82%e0%a4%a4%e0%a4%bf-%e0%a4%95%e0%a5%87-%e0%a4%85%e0%a4%97%e0%a4%a6%e0%a5%82%e0%a4%a4/): बात 1968-1969 की है। मैं उन दिनों पटना के अंग्रेजी दैनिक सर्चलाईट और हिन्दी दैनिक के प्रदीप में दिवभाषीय कार्यालय संवाददाता था। पटना के गर्दनीबाग मुहल्ले के रोड नं0 4 ए के क्वाटर नं0-15 में अपने पिताजी के साथ उनके सरकारी आवास में रहता था। प्रतिदिन सुबह 10 बजे के आसपास पिताजी द्वारा टूटी-फूटी हालत में दी गई साइकिल से कार्यालय जाता था, क्योंकि 11 बजे प्रदीप के संपादक जी की और 11.30 बजे सर्चलाईट के सम्पादक जी की एडिटोरिएल बैठक होती थी। एक दिन मैं सुबह 10 से 10.30 बजे के बीच में जल्दी -जल्दी साइकिल का पैडल मारता हुआ सर्चलाइट प्रेस की ओर चला जा रहा था। रोड नं0-1 के रेलवे फाटक के पास एक बुलंद आवाज सुनाई पड़ी। “पहले इधर आइये। इधर आइये। मेरे साथ एक कप चाय पीकर जाइयेगा।” मैंने पलट कर देखा तो गर्दनीबाग थाने के इंस्पेक्टर श्री पन्ना लाल मेहरा जी एक नं0 फाटक के बगल वाली इंस्पेक्टर क्वार्टर के बाहर बैठकर जाड़े की धूप का आनन्द लेते हुए अपनी पोर्टेबुल टाईपराइटर पर फटाफट कुछ टाईप किये जा रहे थे। शायद किसी केस का सुपरविजन रिपोर्ट टाईप कर रहे थे। मैंने जब अपनी साइकिल उनके क्वार्टर के गेट के अन्दर लगायी तो उन्होंने कहा कि “क्या श्रीमान् जी आप इसी तरह रोज चले जाते रहिएगा। यहां रूककर एक कप चाय पीकर तो जाया करिये।” उन्होंने मैं चाय भी पिलाऊंगा और आपको खबर देते रहूँगा । उन्होंने आवाज लगाई “पाठक जी। अरे ओ, पाठक जी। मैंने सड़क के उस पार में देखा कि झोपड़ीनुमा चाय की दूकान से एक आदमी झांका। मेहरा जी ने कहा कि “दो गिलास बढ़िया चाय भेजो।“ फिर हमलोग बातचीत में लग गये। तीन-चार मिनट के बाद एक नवयुवक लाल गमझा लपेटे हुए और एक बनियान पहने हुए दो गिलास चाय लेकर आया और उनके सामने टेबुल पर रख दिया। जब मैंने उनका चेहरा देखा तो लगा कि ये तो बिन्देश्वर पाठक हैं। वे उस समय वे डा0 बिन्देश्वर नहीं थे। उन्हें कोई नहीं जानता था। मैंने उन्हें इसलिए पहचान लिया था कि वे मेरे बड़े भाई के साथ पढ़ते थे और कभी-कभी मेरे क्वाटर में आते रहते थे । मैंने उनसें पूछा कि “आप यहां?” उन्होंने कहा कि “हाँ यह होटल मेरे गावं के चाचा जी की है। कभी-कभी यहां मैं आता रहता हूँ और चाचा जी की मदद कर देता हूँ । यहां नहाने-धोने की सुविधा होती है। फिर यहीं से तैयार होकर कालेज चला जाता हूँ।” मैं यह जानकारी के रूप में बता रहा हूँ कि किसी व्यक्तित्व का कैसा परख हैं। पाठक जी दूकान पर चाचा जी की चाय बेचते थे और समोसा, बंगला निमकी और गुलाबजामुन भी वहां बहुत बढ़िया बनता था । इसी कारण से पाठक जी की दूकान पर हमलोगों का आना-जाना नियमित था। कभी-कभी मैं आज भी जब उस इलाके से गुजरता हूँ तो पाठक जी की दूकान और मेहरा जी का याददास्त सामने आ जाती है। अतः मैं अपने कुछ संस्मरण झलकियों के रूप में प्रस्तुत कर रहा हूँ I इसके कूछ महीनों के बाद “सीमांत गांधी” के नाम से मशहूर खान अब्दुल गफ्फार खान पटना आये तो गांधी मैदान के उत्तर पूर्व कोने पर अनुग्रह नारायण सामाजिक शोध संस्थान से सटे पूर्व गांधी शांति प्रतिष्ठान में ठहरे। “प्रदीप” के संपादक राम सिंह भारतीय जी ने मेरी यहां डयूटी लगाई कि मैं दोपहर के सम्पादकीय बैठक के तुरंत बाद प्रतिदिन गांधी शांति प्रतिष्ठान जाया करूँ और खान अब्दुल गफ्फार खान के पास आधे-एक घंटे बैठ कर इनकी जो भी संस्मरण निकाल सकूँ या दिनभर कोई विशेष व्यक्ति उनसे मिलने आये तो उनका खान साहब से जो भी वार्तालाप हो उसका समाचार बना सकूँ । मैं यह काम प्रतिदिन करूँ । मैं गांधी प्रतिष्ठान जाने लगा और धीरे-धीरे मेरी खान साहब से टीयूनिंग भी अच्छी बन गयी। खान साहब के पास जब भी जाता और प्रणाम करता तो बैठक के बीच में ही अपनी लम्बी कमीज की जब से कुछ डाई फ्रुट्स निकालकर मेरे हाथ में रख देते। एक दिन मैं जब खान साहब से मिलने पहुंचा और अपनी साइकिल को खड़ा कर ताला लगा ही रहा था कि मुझे बिन्देश्वर पाठक जी मिल गये। मैंने पूछा “क्या हाल है पाठक जी।” उन्होंने कहा कि भाई मैं बड़ी परेशानी में हूँ ।” मैंने कहा, “आपकी परेशानी क्या है और मैं आपकी क्या मदद कर सकता हूँ ?” बिन्देश्वर जी ने कहा कि आप तो जान ही रहे हैं कि मैं सुलभ शौचालय संस्थान की स्थापना की है और कम खर्चे में शौचालय कैसे बनाया जा सकता है इस पर एक प्रदर्शनी लगाना चाहता हूँ। अगर उस प्रदर्शनी का उद्घाटन खान साहब कर देंगे तो उसकी प्रेस कभरेज अच्छी हो जायेगी। उससे हमारी संस्था को बड़ा लाभ और बल मिलेगा।” मैंने पूछा आप खान साहब से मिले?
